2012
Launch Date!
With so much experience in the flooring industry David decided to open up his own Mobile Choose at Home Carpets business.
2014
In 2014 we gained our Trading Standards Approval from the Business Approval Register. This was a huge milestone for our business as it gave us a lot of credibility in the local area.
2018
Our Online Booking System was launched in 2018. This gives our customers direct access to our booking diary.
David O'Neill

Hi there. My name is David O’Neill and I am the original business owner of Out & About Carpets.
I live in Hazel Grove with my wife Louise. In this photo is Hurley our dog who unfortunately we lost in 2022. I have 2 grown-up children and 2 grandsons. I love watching football and also enjoy walking, spending time with my family and travelling. Myself and Louise have been on numerous USA road trips and cruises.
Since the early 1990’s I have worked in the carpet industry. My first flooring job was for Carpet World in Hazel Grove where I worked for over 20 years until Carpet Right took the store over. Since then I have worked in a variety of roles within the flooring industry including wholesaler, manfacturer and other retail outlets.
Theo Stavrinides
Altrincham & Trafford Branch
Hi I’m Theo Stavrinides and I recently opened the Altrincham & Trafford branch of Out & About Carpets.
I live in Heald Green with my partner Caren and daughter Ivy. I grew up in Cheadle Hulme and have many friends and family in the South Manchester area. I was in the RAF for 11 years and was based at Brize Norton for most of that time. I worked mostly in Logistics. After being away for so long it’s great to be home.
In my spare time I enjoy meeting up and socialising with friends and taking trips with my family.
Louise O'Neill
Office & Administration
Hello everyone! My name is Louise and I’m David’s wife. I work mostly in our home office doing all of the administration, accounts, social media and website maintenance for the business.
We now live in Hazel Grove after living in Cheadle Hulme for 10 years. I moved across to Timperley back in 2001 from the Chester and Wrexham area. I worked mostly in air freight export roles until I started my own wedding stationery business in 2010. I sold that back in 2019 and since then I’ve been working solely on Out & About Carpets.
I love travelling and spending time with my friends and family. If I’m not working from home you’ll mostly likely find me in a coffee shop or the Brezo lounge on my laptop!
Where are our Carpet Shops?
We don’t actually have any retail carpet shops in Stockport or Altrincham. We offer a dedicated mobile, choose at home service. This means that we bring all of our samples to you in your home. Our registered business addresses in Hazel Grove and on Atlantic Street in Altrincham are purely our offices – please don’t come to us – we will come to you.
Despite not having a shop we have as much choice as any other flooring or carpet shop in the Stockport and South Manchester region … but the difference is that we bring carpet shop to you. We work with a large selection of carpet manufacturers and flooring wholesalers. If there’s a specific product you are looking for please let me know.
Do we fit the flooring for you?
Yes we absolutely do fit your new flooring for you. Our service is fully inclusive of all materials required and professional fitting. All of our carpet, vinyl, laminate and lvt flooring fitters are fully insured and well known to us. The flooring fitters we use are self employed contractors so you will pay them separately for the work they complete but we will explain all of this to you during the appointment.

We never demand payment upfront for your flooring. A 50% deposit is taken at the time of booking and the final balance isn’t due until after your new flooring has been installed and you re happy with the completed job.
